FOR THE PROFESSION

Members Only Area

WELCOME!

Maine Archives and Museums (MAM) is the only professional association representing museums, archives, historical societies, and other collecting institutions in the state of Maine. Our purpose is to develop and foster a network of citizens and institutions in Maine who identify, collect, interpret, and/or provide access to materials relating to history, living collections, and culture.  What does that mean for my organization?

Businesses & Consultants: List your museum/archive-related business in our online Service Provider directory! After May 31, you must be a business member to be listed in our service provider directory. MAM offers memberships here for businesses that specialize in serving museums and archives.

MAM Needs Your Plans!  We plan on adding a resources webpage of representative institutional plans and policies for members to view, consult, and use. Got a great Acquisitions Plan, Collections Management Policy, Long-Range Conservation Plan, Strategic Plan, Social Media Plan? Email it to info@mainemuseums.org.

Maine Archives & Museums receives $10K grant from the Davis Family Foundation! MAM will undertake the  the Maine Cultural Institutions Outreach Project (MCIOP) with three goals: to identify local collecting institutions in all of Maine’s towns, gather data on their holdings and institutional needs, and connect these keepers of Maine’s local heritage with a larger network of like-minded colleagues through a series of low-cost workshiops throughout the state.

How do visitors find MAM members? The Maine Office of Tourism has added links to MAM on several pages of their website. That helps tourists find MAM members using our Find an Archive/Museum search!! Make sure your listing is ready for the summer season!

Save the Date! MAM's 2012 Conference and Annual Meeting will be October 26 at UMaine Orono.

What's going on? MAM posts links to and reminders of grant deadlines and professional development opportunities plus news articles relating to Maine's museum and archival community on our Facebook page. "Like" us to get connected!

Join our community!  Membership is open to organizations, volunteers, professionals, students, businesses and all who are interested in supporting and promoting Maine's collecting institutions. Have questions about membership? Wondering what a collecting institution is? Visit our FAQs page!

MAM's current newsletter. In print and online!

Want the public to know about an event, talk, exhibit or other programs? Post it on our Events calendar!

Need advice or information? Contact your local Regional Representative. Let us know if you need a Rep in your area.

Address or contact changes? Members may update their own information through the View Profile button in the upper right corner of the page, and then choose Edit Profile.
