Early June Video Chat

Safely Reopening Maine's Museums and Archives

Collecting institutions throughout Maine are struggling with reopening as Maine slowly comes out of the economic shutdown. This event is one of multiple video chats that the Association of Maine Archives and Museums is hosting to help!

Participants will share experiences and discuss Maine's reopening guidelines, as they apply to collecting institutions in Maine. We will spend part of the hour in discussion as one big group and part of the hour in breakout groups.

For more information on reopening guidelines, including the guidelines for Maine museums released May 27, 2020, by the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development, as well as guidelines collected by the MAM Board of Directors from experts around the country, see www.MaineMuseums.org/COVID-19.

On the Call

MAM board member and Executive Director of the Pejepscot Historical Society, Larissa Vigue Picard, will facilitate will facilitate the chat, featuring these folks:

Katie Orlando, Executive Director of the Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunkport, and Phil Morse, Project Manager at the Seashore Trolley Museum. The Trolley Museum reopened the outdoor portion of their expansive campus earlier in May as an outdoor guided activity.

Abby Dunham, Collections Manager for the Wilson Museum in Castine. The Wilson Museum will be reopening to the public on June 1.

Curtis Picard, Executive Director of the Retail Association of Maine and member of the Governor's Economic Recovery Committee. Curtis will be able to share updates from this committee and discuss best practices for museum gist shops.
